Volunteer and Visitor Policy
Overview
Next Generation Nepal values your interest in supporting our mission to reconnect trafficked children with their families and to prevent child trafficking through educational and economic opportunity. If you would like to donate your time and skills to NGN, please review the following guidelines. Due to the sensitive nature of our work and the difficult and expensive access to our remote locations, we do not encourage on-site volunteering and visitation but there are other ways you can assist us.
Opportunities: NGN welcomes volunteer support and involvement to:
- Raise operating and program funds
- Provide professional services
- Increase awareness of NGN in the world
- Suggest ideas and opportunities
- Organize community-based events and programs
To find out how you can assist with any of the above, please email us at info@nextgenerationnepal.org.
Volunteers and Visitors
NGN does accept a limited number of volunteers and visitors based on the following criteria:
- Volunteer and visitor requests must be made in writing at info@nextgenerationnepal.org.
- Requests to visit the children's homes are evaluated for significant influence and support for NGN's work in Nepal.
- To ensure that our volunteers can take on impactful, game-changing projects, volunteers must serve for a minimum of five months, except in unique, pre-determined circumstances.
- Preference is given to volunteers with professional skills.
- Volunteers and visitors are placed and supervised by NGN's Nepal County Director, NGN Program Director and NGN's partner, The Himalaya Innovative Society (THIS).
- Volunteers accepted by NGN are expected to submit an informal bi-monthly report to the NGN County Director reflecting their activities and experiences.
- Volunteers are bound by the same confidentiality requirements as NGN staff and must follow all rules and expectations defined by the organization.
- No photos or videos taken by the volunteers may be published or used for commercial purposes or financial gain. All identifying characteristics of people and places, including names, must be changed to protect the identity and privacy of the subjects.
